Boylston Street store is a monster

Boylston St. StoreI know we just showed you some pics of the new Boston store, but inspired their example (and by the potential for doing a favor for my colleague, the irascible Jim Dalrymple), I trudged downtown last Friday—in person—to snap a handful of shots of the new Boston flagship Apple Store going up on Boylston St. The area, directly across from the high-falutin’ Prudential Center downtown, is located in a popular upscale shopping district in the city’s Back Bay area. Gizmodo also points out that the store will be the largest of Apple’s retail outlets, in terms of sheer square footage.

Construction was still ongoing when I peeked my head in, and there’s really not much to see. There was, however, a security guard standing outside, just like in the Apple Store I frequent in the Cambridgeside Galleria. Nobody, repeat nobody, will be stealing pieces of the unfinished Apple Store. Me included. Blast! Foiled again!

In addition, one of our local MacUser readers wondered about the possibility of a meetup, so I just thought I stick a toe in the water and see how many Boston-area readers we’ve got. I have no idea what we’d do, but would you be interested?
