Something I’ve always wondered about was the effect of new shiny Apple stores was on your smaller, mom-and-pop Apple retailers and resellers. Some shops in my part of the Bay Area seem to be doing just fine as far as I can tell.
But a longtime Apple retailer in Glasgow isn’t having such an easy time.
Our friends across the pond at Macworld UK report:Scotland’s biggest Apple Premium Reseller, Scotsys this morning confirmed it will close down its Glasgow store.
The company’s putting a brave face on it, saying the closure will allow it to focus on “providing services and solutions to businesses, public sector clients and the creative industries,” from its bases in Bellshill and Edinburgh.
Managing director John McAleenan said: “The closure of our Glasgow store is a simple recognition of the fact that, since Apple opened its outlet on Buchanan Street, there has been very little room at the high-volume consumer end of the market.

If you read the forums on MacRumors.com you'll see that Scotsys had a long history of poor customer service. A lot of people complained that they were just downright rude and nasty. One guys brought his G4 in for a neww soundcard only for them to hold the machine hostage for 90 days before fixing it, only for it to fail again a month later.
It's my understading that a lot of people are happy to see them go.
I only ever went there once, years ago. Overpriced and little interested in helping a farty poor person.
