I love America. Where we can be rewarded for our consumerist habits merely by walking into a building. Elizabeth Rodriguez descended the glass staircase into Apple’s Fifth Avenue flagship store and was accosted at the bottom by Apple Store employees, who handed her a MacBook, iPod, iPod Hi-Fi, and a ProCare membership.
Ms. Rodriguez was the millionth visitor to the Fifth Avenue store, which opened just under four months ago. The Fifth Avenue store has been doing bumper business, attracting around 8700 visitors every day, compared to many of Apple’s other stores, which were doing roughly that amount of business per week.
I attribute the success of the store to the giant glass cube. Oh, and the location in the middle of New York City. Yeah, that too.
