Remember Dan’s post a few days ago about the woman who couldn’t buy a Mac with her eight gift cards because Apple wouldn’t accept them? Well, after following the advice of a commenter on digg, the woman, Charlie, emailed Apple PR, and on Tuesday got them to process the order for her Mac, which she received the very next day, with her eight gift cards.
While it’s great to see that Charlie finally got her Mac, I still find it interesting how easily 4,000 diggs and some emails to Apple PR can cause Apple to so quickly cover up its mistakes.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
Yeah right, "quickly cover up its mistakes", the whole incident just went off in the memory hole and disappeared. [what's with these journalistic spin]
"cover up mistakes"? "journalistic spin"?
Huh? It seems, on an unbiased reading, that Apple, upon recognizing its mistake, corrected it. The lady got her computer through use of her gift cards. Everyone reading the story knows that Apple missed the boat the first time--no cover up there--and that they corrected it once prompted by adverse publicity. Again, no cover up.
Lighten up, folks. Enjoy the ride.
I applaud Apple for doing the right thing, but I wonder if they would have done it absence the negative publicity. Hope springs eternal.
