Fake Steve is the real Daniel Lyons

Fake Steve Jobs is no longer anonymous, and you can thank the New York Times for it. The famed blogger is in fact a Forbes senior editor who lives in Boston: Daniel Lyons.

“I'm stunned that it's taken this long,” said Mr. Lyons, 46, when a reporter interrupted his vacation in Maine on Sunday to ask him about Fake Steve. “I have not been that good at keeping it a secret. I've been sort of waiting for this call for months.”
Well, I’m sure some are surprised and others saddened with the news. We can only hope Fake Steve will keep his zesty “secret diary” just like we like it for weeks to come. He himself handles the whole matter with confidence:
Apple faithful, here in our darkest hour I know what you’re thinking: What’s next for FSJ? Well, I’m taking a few days off to sit in a lake and do some yoga and meditation and non-thinking. Then I’m coming back next week, badder than ever, with a new sponsor — my homeboys at Forbes.com. Turns out they’ve been reading FSJ and liking it too. Who knew?
What do you think? Does this take the fun out of the blog, or will you keep reading?

Bummer.

It won't be the same, especially knowing there's a corporate sponsor, and thus, most likely editors.

hey.. if he's funny... that's all I care about. It's not like he's sponsored by APPLE or one of their competitors. I'm sure we can expect much more of the same from this blogger.

If he stays the same, I'll keep reading. If he holds back I'll lose interest. Only time will tell. Ask me in a couple months. Nice follow up article.

Editor's note: FSJ outed himself on his own blog, so "keeping it under wraps" doesn't make any sense.

Also, we are not a TUAW clone, so we won't be taking direction from them.

Thanks for reading.

Having never read the blog, I won't start now. Forbes digital tool indeed.

Now the real question is: who Daniel Lyons is in reality?

I'm sure it's a wise business decision... probably help the sales of his other books. I'll keep reading the blog if the satire remains acidic without being too insulting. Some of what's written in Forbes about Linux is just low insult.

While the real Steve Jobs must be relieved, the competition is pissed. The usually reticent Bill Gates already had some not-so-namaste things to say about the whole Daniel Lyons affair.
