I predict that when (and if) Apple releases an iPhone it will not be called “iPhone” at all. There is too much speculation, market analysis, and just plain rumor manufacturing for Apple to use the title. There are great expectations that this Apple’s phone device will revamp the entire cell phone market, just as the iPod did to the MP3 player market. For that reason I believe that Apple will attempt to distance itself from these preconceived notions by choosing a new name for the device. Also, don’t forget we’re talking about Apple, the company who loves secrets and surprises. I hope we find that I’m right in just four short weeks at Macworld Expo 2007.
You might be right about the name; but Apple's press will likely fade any prior discussion with new. I believe many will be disappointed by the lack of a phone announcement at Macworld. It's a critical product that demands a special event. Also, Jobs will have his hands full of the other announcements and sections of his typical 2 hour keynote. He's more likely to spend a lot of time on Leopard and other software updates, then the already started move into video, a new iPod, and "iTV". The new iPod will make game play better.
I know the back page of iCreate when I see it.
It's an easy prediction... There is an iPhone, and it's not a phone by Apple, so I don't think that Apple gonna call the iPhone with that name ! (sorry for my English, I'm french and I haven't practice English for a long time).
they might as well call it the iMop, cause it's gonna clean up...
Based on recent Apple naming schemes, I predict the "iPhone" will be called the MacPhone. There will be two models, the MacPhone Pro and the MacPhone. The difference between the models will be the Pro version will be touch-tone and the standard model will be rotary dial.
Based on Joel's predictions, I assume that the MacPhone (not Pro) will be available in two colors: white and black, with the black model costing more. The MacPhone Pro will only be available in silver.
