Latest iPod rumors seen through Rose-colored glasses

nano.jpgKevin Rose, founder of Digg, is at it again with his notorious Apple-related predictions. This time, he’s talking up the latest rumors regarding the next generation of iPods.

He’s posted on his personal blog a two and a half minute YouTube clip of himself discussing what he believes to be reliable information on the soon-to-be-released new iPods. He also posted a pic of the alleged new iPod Nano, which seems to meld the best features of the original Nano (long, slim form), with the current one (large, color screen).

The big changes we should expect from the next gen iPods, if (and that’s a big “if”) the rumors are true, include:

* A revamp of the entire iPod line

* Small cosmetic changes to the iPod Touch, while the Nano will see a significant redesign (as pictured above)

* Fairly large price drop for the iPods to distance them from the $199 iPhone.

* iPod touch 2.1 software, with the iPhone to get the update shortly after.

* iTunes 8.0 - a “big update with new features”.

Mr. Rose is expecting all of these predictions to come to fruition in the next 2-3 weeks. While he’s far from the final word in terms of Apple rumors (see his original iPhone predictions), these predictions seem logical, and there’s nothing too wild going on here, so I’m leaning in his favor this time. Guess we’ll find out just how accurate these rumors are in just a few weeks.
