This is crazy. First Apple drops the iPod shuffle’s price to $49 and then the Apple Store goes down.
Since Apple doesn’t generally change anything on the Store without taking it down (gives people a chance to wet their pants in anticipation and excitement, you know), we’re assuming that the store was supposed to go down and then the price of the shuffle updated. Maybe someone just goofed up — which would explain why the store homepage wasn’t updated.
But then again, you can never be sure with Apple. So hold your breath and get ready. We’ll update you with whatever news there may be.

I think they are releasing a 2gig shuffle for $79.
I doubt they'd have retained the one gigabyte version if they were doing that. But maybe you're right. We'll soon know. :)
All I see is the updated shuffle price.
Nothing new that I can see. I can't imagine bringing the store down for a shuffle price drop. Lastly, this was the big Tuesday thing for this week??? I hope not...
Well I was close.
It says 2GB coming soon for $69.
Yes, you were. :)
I was proven wrong, but I still think that they're going to have a hard time moving the 1GB shuffle now. For $20 more, you can get the 2GB variant. Why would you want to buy the 1GB version?
I agree for the most part.
However it falls in line with the other iPod lines.
$50 more for a nano with twice memory.
$100 more for classic and touch for twice the memory.
I think they will still sell them.
