After he was done launching the MacBook Air at Macworld Expo, Steve Jobs took a moment to highlight all the progress Apple had made and the products they’d released in 2008, starting from theMac Pro update to Time Capsule, software upgrades for the iPhone, iPod touch and Apple TV, iTunes movie rentals and the MacBook Air. He then concluded with a statement that has stuck with me since the keynote. He said, “All of this in the first two weeks—and we’ve got fifty more weeks to go.”
It seemed like an innocuous statement uttered in jest back then but it now seems like a self-imposed future benchmark to me. Did Steve Jobs mean that henceforth, in 2008, each week would see a new release or update of some sort from the company? Did he mean that we’ll see the “We’ll be back soon.” note on the Apple Online Store every single Tuesday of 2008?
Not quite. Last Tuesday, the Apple Store did not go down and we didn’t see any new products, so that theory gets shot in the foot right there. However, we did see extremely minor updates to the iWork suite last Tuesday. Not even a fraction as exciting as the iPod nano’s new pink color, I admit, but it was something.
So far, every single Tuesday has seen Apple do something newsworthy and I’m pretty sure Apple intends to continue that trend in 2008. Whether it be impossibly powerful new MacBook Pros or tiny little point updates to the Calculator widget, my expert prediction for 2008 is that Apple will have something fresh for us every week of this year—and they now have forty-seven more weeks to go.

If that is indeed the case, I will be much happier than I currently am on Tuesdays.
So instead of dreading Microsoft Black Tuesdays, we have Happy Mac Tuesdays... good deal.
