WriteRoom, one of my best loved apps for writing ever since Dan wrote about it back in July, has reached its second version. Additions include a new live word count, support for standard file formats, more flexible display options, and a $24.95 price tag.
It’s always a bit painful when a free app goes upscale, but it’s a good thing in the case of WriteRoom. The app’s feature that appealed most to me when I first tried WriteRoom, full screen editing, has become far more usable than its first iteration, which was basically the same as taping a piece of paper on your screen to block everything else out (construction paper if you wanted color).
It’s important to note that WriteRoom 2.0 is a word processor, not a text editor. That means fancy things like syntax coloring and other coding amenities are absent. If you need to churn out some HTML, WriteRoom isn’t for you. If you’re looking to craft a few sentences without checking your email 16 times, go check out this app.

Pretty cool - BUT $25? $5 maybe $10 but to pay for TextEdit with one more feature....no
I disagree with first commenter -- I think $24.95 is a bargain for high-quality software from a user-centered developer.
Wow, that screenshot really looks like a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death).
How does it truly compare to the previous version? I just don't see a ~25 USD price increase.
