Ever wished your wallpaper was a little more dynamic? By which, of course, I mean your computer wallpaper, not that stuff in your house—though that would be rocking. There’s long been a Terminal-based hack that allows you to use any of OS X’s screen savers as a desktop background, but for those who are not inclined to venture into the realm of the command line, there’s now Nil Thacker’s Wallsaver.
Wallsaver’s kind of a one trick pony, but it’s got that trick down pat. I tried it out with a handful of different screen savers and it worked fine on pretty much of all them, though some did make my MacBook chug a bit. Despite this comment, Exposé seems to work fine, though it’ll revert to your standard background in the “show all windows” mode.
Also worth noting is that while the RSS Visualizer screen saver displayed fine, you can’t use the numeric hot keys to access different stories. Still, it’s pretty slick to have an RSS feed displayed in swirly glory on your desktop. Now, if only I could find a way for my feeds to show up in the wallpaper in my bedroom.

Woah, I just released it yesterday! The news in the Mac community travels fast!
This is totally awesome.
Sorry, but it seems .Mac took down my site because it when over its data transfer quota (10 GB).
Frankly, I have no idea how that could have happened!
In the meantime, I've mirrored the entire site at my blog: http://www.nilthacker.net/software
