USA Today’s Ed Baig on why Macs are special

Ed BaigWith the holiday season underway, it’s time for people to buy new computers and for Apple to potentially lure more customers to the Mac. The problem with Macs is the attitude people have towards them: Most people who intend to buy a new computer don’t even consider the idea of getting a Mac. For those who do, there’s a lot of misinformation around to lead them astray and fool them into thinking that Macs are either too expensive, too incompatible with PCs, or one of the main causes of global warming.

Edward C. Baig, in a column on USA Today, sets the record straight by explaining why you might want to switch to a Mac. He tackles questions such as how different they are from Windows, whether there is any learning curve, their compatibility, and the million dollar question: can they run Windows? Baig says: “Windows users tolerate their computers to get stuff done. The Mac crowd enjoys its machines, whether managing music in iTunes or pictures in iPhoto.” If you’re a Mac user already, you probably know this stuff, but if you’re on the fence and still a bit undecided, this column might serve as a good place to start.
