Using iCal to keep track of your events and tasks is pretty handy, but sometimes looking at all of that information is a bit overwhelming when you just need a snapshot of what you want to accomplish today. Justin Williams of Second Gear is out to combat that problem with his new app, Today.
Today lets shows you what events you have scheduled for—you guessed it—today, as well as displaying your events. You can add new events or tasks right from the window, and even add new events and tasks (with limited options; you’ll still need to go into iCal if you want to create recurring events or set alarms). Controls let you skim through previous or subsequent days and the preferences allow you to assign a hot key and decide whether Today appears in the Dock or Menu Bar.
At the moment I’m using two applications to do what Today does, Anxiety and iCalEvents. Will I switch? I don’t know: I’m pretty happy with those two apps, disparate as they may be, so I don’t see an immediate need to spend $15 on Today, but I’ll be keeping an eye on its development with great interest.
