Times Reader finally coming to Mac

First Look - Times Reader Beta for Mac Coming This Month-1.jpgMy name is David and I’m a news junky. My default browser site is Google news, and I spend way too much time browsing random news stories when I should be working on other things. That said, the New York Times is one of my favorite news resources.

One of the cooler innovations of the online New York Times is their Times Reader, an application that displays the last seven days of the New York Times. This is great for commuters who wish to read the news while not being connected to the internet, as Times Reader syncs the content onto your computer, letting you take the last seven days of news anywhere you want.

Unfortunately, this cool app had always been PC only. But the Times Reader is coming to the Mac, at least in Beta form, sometime this month. It is a native Cocoa application powered by Webkit and Silverlight (meaning you’ll have to install Microsoft’s Silverlight to use it).

The beta Times Reader for Mac will be free while it’s in beta form, but it will go back to being free only for New York Times subscribers once beta testing is over.
