In a continuos effort to keep Mac users of Skype interested in the program until the 2.0 version, featuring video chats, comes out, the Skype for Mac blog has come up with three cool ways to use Skype on your Mac. The first shows a Skype plug-in for the Filemaker database program, which allows you to place calls via Skype directly from Filemaker. The next cool thing to use Skype for on your Mac is integration with Timbuktu, the popular remote access program for Macs. Timbuktu allows you to call people using Skype from within the program, and also allows you to transfer data between computers using a secure Skype tunnel. Also, Skype users get $40 off buying Timbuktu Pro 8.6. And last, but not least, Speakables for Skype allows you to control Skype using your voice, for example, picking up a call by saying “Answer Call” and hanging up by saying, well, “Hang Up.” While the Skype integration in these programs is cool, I’m still holding out for Skype video chats on Mac.
