Well, if Dan is going to go on and on about Butler, I’ll point out a new utility (or at least new to me), PiquantMenu ($18). I’m more of a fan of keyboard controlled utilities (except for FruitMenu) such as LaunchBar or QuickSilver (Butler can fit into the category somewhat, but it does get rather menu heavy in some ways. PiquantMenu aims to be the ultimate menu utility.
I think it might nearly be. It’s got the beautiful UI down with three great looks and other interface touches. Most menu utilities use hierarchal menus that pop out of one another. That works ok in most situations, but remember that time that you missed the very last item in a long series and you had to navigate the maze again? Instead, PiquantMenu changes the menu for each item you navigate to. It works really well. The utility does cost a few bucks, but if menus are more your mode of thought, it’s worth checking out.
