SoundSource 2.0 brings more sound sanity

SoundSource By far, my favorite menu item in any of my Macs is Rogue Amoeba’s free SoundSource. If you ever need to switch between the various sound inputs and outputs available to you on your Mac, it will be your best friend as well. Version 2.0 was just released. Open the menu and you’ll see three different input/outputs: input, output, and system. System is used for your beeps.

But what’s new and 2.0 worthy? Sliders. I’d hoped Paul would have named this version after the little burgers of similar name. It’s so obvious. And tiny. And tasty. These sliders allow you to control the volume multiplier for three sources independently. That’s great for those times that you need to turn up sound to watch a movie but don’t want your beep to go off and rip through your soul at maximum volume. It’s also good for boosting mic pickup, or in Dan’s case, scaling back the awesome.

As a free piece of software, you can’t beat the price. Well, unless they started to pay you, but somehow I doubt the viability of that business model. When you’re downloading and enjoying this great piece of freeware, check out Rogue Amoeba’s software and give a thought to dropping a comment about the awesomeness of this one entry. I’ve inadvertently hyped this with the powers that be. It has to be considered the best… or else. Help please.
