Skitch invite-only beta now drawing from the public

SkitchWe haven’t really talked up Skitch, the image sharing utility by the folks at Plasq (makers of the swank Comic Life), but that’s largely because it’s been in private beta until now. Yesterday, the Plasq team shifted Skitch over into public beta, so if you want to give it a try, head over and drop your email address in the hat.

I’ve had a chance to play with a private beta for a few months now, and I have to say that I like what I’ve seen. Skitch is kind of an A-to-Z approach for getting graphics on the web: it handles everything from image capture (via copy-and-paste, screenshot, or iSight), to non-destructive editing, to image upload (to .Mac, Flickr, or Plasq’s own My Skitch site).

Images are obviously an integral part of what we do here at MacUser, and I’m always looking for ways to improve my image workflow (or offload some of the easier work that I currently do in Photoshop). At WWDC, I also got to meet Plasq’s CEO, Cris Pearson—who, like most Australians of my acquaintance, is dangerously charming—and his genuine enthusiasm for creating a great product truly comes through. It looks like that’ll all add up to a spiffy 1.0 release. Looking forward to it.

Aloha, skitch sounds really cool, I'm new to mac and I just opened comic life. It opens up a new area to share photos in an enteraining way. Skitch looks like it does the same thing with but with ideals. Cool!

Aloha Mo
