Seems like ages ago that we first started talking up Skitch, the screenshot and lightweight editing program from the fine folks at Plasq (makers of Comic Life). The app’s been in private beta for a while, but as of last week it made the shift into public beta, meaning that you too can get your hands on it.
It’s been a while since I last launched up Skitch—I did a clean wipe when I upgraded to Leopard and didn’t get around to reinstalling some of my apps. I just grabbed the latest beta, however, and it’s still looking like a pretty solid app. In the everyday blogging realm, I frequently find myself having to take screenshots and resize them, and it seems like Skitch would be the grape jelly to my peanut butter. With support for photo-sharing from web services like Plasq’s own Skitch site to .Mac to Flickr, it’s a snap to post your pictures to the web.
To be honest, Skitch’ll have an uphill battle to beat my current lightweight image editing app, ImageWell 2 (even ImageWell 3 couldn’t top it, which is why I’m still holding tight to that old version), but I certainly appreciate having options.
