Hallelujah. One of my most indispensable add-ons has finally added Leopard compatibility: the unsurpassed SafariStand, which has been revved to version 3.0L. I’d managed to get the previous version working, albeit with some problems: switching the look of the Safari windows to the “Unified” texture, for example, would cause them not to open. That fixed, I discovered that whenever SafariStand was loaded, I couldn’t click on links in other applications and have them open in Safari. Whoops. Hey, no biggie.
Not everything works yet: for example, the option that lets you force links which normally open in a new window instead open a new tab still opens a new window. But the key, for me, is the ability to search directly from the address bar using a shortcut: for example, typing “g MacUser” would immediately take me to a Google search for MacUser. Camino (and Firefox, I believe) offers this functionality as well, but Safari has remained my browser of choice, so having SafariStand updated means a return to sanity for me.
Next up: Mail bundles and Visor! Fingers crossed.
