Maybe it’s early as we’re only a day into October, but nothing will get you into the mood for the season like Mac-O-Lantern. It’ll put a customizable jack-o-lantern onto your desktop with an animated candle flicker effect (which I’ve annoyingly left in the image for this post). Like any good OS X app, it lets you customize the transparency and size.
But wait, there’s more. Its dock icon will also tell you the number of days until the big day. What should my costume be? No, jeans, a turtleneck, and glasses will not do for me this year. Back on topic. Mac-O-Lantern is free and open-source.
