SmartScroll X brings iPhone scrolling features to your Mac

smartscrollx.jpgAre you suffering from iPhone-touchscreen-envy? That primitive MacBook/MacBook Pro touch pad interface got you down? Well the newly-updated Smart Scroll X will get you as close to the iPhone’s scrolling features as possible without having to go out and buy one.

The “Super Wheel” beefs up your Mac’s trackpad with an iPhonesque scrolling mechanism that lets you “coast” through pages, just like on the iPhone. You can also control various different trackpad settings with a simple System Preferences pane.

Another cool feature is the Grab Scroll, which lets you throw contents around using mouse drags and flip through multiple pages with a gentle flick of the wrist.

Smart Scroll X has recently been updated to work with Leopard 10.5.2, but if you’re unsure about giving it a spin (or flick), take a look at Macworld’s Mac Gems review for it or download the free trial from the developer’s website. The retail version is available for $19.
