PicLens may change the way you view images online

200610191433Macworld’s Editorial Director (and occasional MacUser poster) Jason Snell got a special preview of an up-and-coming utility/plug-in for Safari. It’s called PicLens, and in a nutshell it changes the way you will view images online.

Instead of viewing a page of images on a page, PicLens lets you view those images in an iPhoto-style slideshow (see above). Any set of images (be they from Flickr, Facebook, PhotoBucket, or an image search-engine) now becomes a beautiful full-screen slideshow which pre-loads the full-res images in the background.

Check out the new Beta version of PicLens from CoolIris. It only supports Safari and 10.4, but a Windows version is coming soon—if you swing that way.

I installed it, but I'm not sure how to get it to show up...

I also installed it..When you do an image search on say google, run your mouse over a picture thumbnail and you will see a little box in the lower left corner. Click on it and it will start the program, which is extreamly cool btw!!

I installed it, used it with Google image search, and on the second image the program locked up. I couldn't go back or forward. I couldn't exit the program, I could't use Apple-Tab to swicth to a different application. I ended up turning off my 12"PB, 1.5 GHz, 10.4.8
