It wasn’t so long ago that I lamented that OmniGraffle and OmniOutliner had no Quick Look plugins. Omni has announced OmniGraffle 5, which among many other features, comes with afore mentioned Quick Look plugin. I almost don’t care if there are any other features. I love getting previews so quickly.
This fancy new beta version has one caveat that may leave a few of you crying, it requires Leopard. It does have a brand new layout engine based on Graphviz code. The stencil window offers a large assortment of options and even allows for direct download from Graffletopia.
No decisions regarding release date or pricing have been made (too bad, because I’d like to know what that upgrade is going to set me back). Anyway, get downloading if you’d like to try it out.
Update: Omni Group CEO Ken Case chimes in below to let us know OmniGraffle 5 Standard will be available for $99.95; an upgrade from version 4 Standard will run you $39.95. The professional edition will be available for $199.95, upgrades from OmniGraffle 4 Professional costing $99.95. And, in either case, if you buy 4 on or after October 31st, the upgrade to 5 is free. -DM
