Noise, it even comes in pink

Noise Blackhole’s Noise is an application with a very simple goal. Make noise. Not just any noise, pink noise. It’s a particular type of static. I read up on it but I’m still unsure of its utility and why it’s better than white noise.

The app itself is flawless, at least as far as I can tell. There’s a button to turn the noise on and off and a slider to adjust the volume. Check and double check. In fact I’m listening to noise right now as I write this, but the only thing it’s doing for me is accelerating my typing so I can turn it off that much quicker.

Silence is golden.

Pink Noise is used to calibrate an audio system to the room it is setup in. It is typically used by audio pros to setup home theaters, concert systems and recording studios. It helps determine the proper frequency response of the system so sound may be heard as balanced as possible.

IIRC, pink noise differs from white noise most importantly in the sense that it doesn't have a stagnant frequency, and oscillates some. I don't know if its a standard sin curve, or what. In fact, I don't know what its used for either. But I know there are different "colors" of sounds, and pink noise is named pink because its between white and red on the spectrum.
