Perhaps you’ve got a PC sitting in a closet somewhere that you shamefully use through Microsoft’s RDC. Maybe you use it to connect to your work computer. Who knows. If you’re the owner of a shiny Intel Mac, you know the sickness that is the desire for Universal Binaries. Microsoft will be releasing a beta of their Remote Desktop Client the week of July 30th.
Even better for those of you that are already dealing with the hassle that is Office for Windows new file formats, the second beta of their file format converters is also going to see the light of day. Word on the street was their first stab at converting them wasn’t so great. Maybe they can get their own file formats right the second time around (just joshin’, sort of).
Ironically I was just thinking about this the other day...awesome news!
Marvellous. Where's Office:mac 2008? I was under the impression that this was expected to ship some time this summer (unless I missed a change in date) but yet we really don't seem to hear anything coming from Microsoft on this. Bollocks to file converters, I want my Office applications to read and write these XML files natively.
Some real news on the next Office and previews would be much appreciated now. Silence is beginning to worry me...
The RDP client I could care less about, I use Cord and it takes care of everything I need for Win remoting, for everything else there's VNC.
I was really hoping (like Kelmon) to be hearing about the new Office soon, I've been expecting a preview or open beta at least.
