Microsoft has been working on a syncing technology called Live Mesh. The last time we mentioned it, the Mac client had been leaked. If you’re interested in syncing data between your PCs and Macs, you no longer need to rely on a copy of the software that fell off the truck.
We got word that they’ll be offering up more slots for Mac participation. I took a visit at the service’s website to try to grab a copy of the software. After remembering my Hotmail information, I signed in and took a quick look around for the Mac client.
I found a link for a preview of the Mac client, but upon clicking, it told me to try to access with my Mac. Thinking maybe using Camino instead of Safari confused the website, I signed in with that, only to find the link gone. A shame. If you’re interested in this service, now might be the right time to try to get that elusive Mac client.
The Mac client is for grabs at this URL: https://www.mesh.com/install/mac/LiveMesh.dmg
The weird thing is that the client ran just fine directly from the DMG but it crashed if I tried to start it from the Applications folder.
