Since taking over development responsibilities for MarsEdit, Red Sweater Software’s Daniel Jalkut (or should I say Daniel Jalkut’s Red Sweater Software) has not been sitting still. Recently, he announced support for custom blogging platforms for any of you elite bloggers who don’t feel that the mainstream publishing platforms (WordPress, Movable Type, etc.) are enough. How? I thought you’d never ask.
So how do you get MarsEdit working with your custom server software? You adopt a standard API and implement it for your site, in the form of a “xmlrpc.php” type file that accepts POST requests from MarsEdit and returns the appropriate responses. This isn't as hard as it sounds, because there are really only a few calls involved. And after all, I assume if you've got a custom solution already, you know your way around a bit of web programming (or you know somebody who does!).Looks like Daniel is intent on keeping MarsEdit in the docks of Mac bloggers. Anybody out there give this trick a try?

Is it just me, or does the flame on the back of the ship on this icon look strangely like the firefox tail?
