Twisted Melon, purveyor of fine Mac goods, has received a new shipment of its Mantra TR1 USB Infrared Receiver. This device allows you to use an Apple remote with any Mac, even those deprived of a built-in IR receiver. Used in tandem with the Mira interface for the Apple Remote, the Mantra TR1 offers an attractive solution for those of us who think that sitting at a desk in order to operate a computer is for suckers. That’s right. I’m talking to you. Just kidding. But seriously, take a peep at the screenshots. Mira is slick, and it works with or without an Apple Remote with the help of the Mantra.
The product had been out of stock for weeks, so I’m assuming demand is strong (I know that my personal demand is strong). Mantra is priced at $19.99 while Mira is $15.95. You can purchase both in a bundle for $32.
So have I found the solution to my Front Row replacement dilemma? I’ll let you know as soon as I do.
