Rob Griffiths has yet another great utility as his pick of the week at macosxhints.com. GeekBind is an open source, free piece of software that allows you to move and control the transparency of windows among other things using hotkeys.
To make it even easier to use this window dragging feature, I reassigned a mouse button to activate the defined hotkey. So now I can move any window just by pressing and holding a mouse button, then moving the mouse. I love this — no more looking for the right spot, and since I’m moving the mouse to move the window anyway, having a button activate the feature is perfect!
There’s one big downside to the software if you’re using an Intel Mac though. It won’t work. It’ll look like it’s loading and working, but none of the hotkeys will work. Bummer. It’s open source though, so an enterprising developer could make some friends by patching the utility. Heck, I might take a crack at it.
