OK, so this isn’t really a way to make your own PowerBook, but it does bring you one step closer to the real thing. If you’re like me and you own one of the pre-2005 iBooks or PowerBooks without that cool two-finger scrolling feature, then here’s a solution. iScroll2 allows you to add this feature to any Mac with a trackpad. It simply adds a pane in System Preferences dedicated to controlling your scrolling sensitivity and speed. I’ve been using this little utility for quite a while and I couldn’t use my iBook as much as I do without it! Next week’s Make-your-own-PowerBook tip involves silver spray paint, so you might want to stock up now.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
It clearly doesn't work on any Mac with a trackpad.
