When MacZOT first debuted, I was really hot on it. It was a semi-novel idea: daily deals on a single piece of Mac software. You know, Woot for Mac geeks. As time went on and gimmicks seemed to replace good deals (hence all the variations on the MysteryZOT theme). Alec Feld reminded me with his post.
Perhaps the operators are having issues with finding software developers willing to sell their software at a cut throat rate, but the variety is lacking (hence the multiple AppZapper licenses I have). MacUpdate is also offering daily discount software completely straight, which was what made MacZOT different to begin with.
That leaves just the MysteryZOTs. Sure, I got sucked into the idea because it’s fun. It’s almost like gambling. However, like gambling, it shouldn’t be done often, but it’s done regularly. MacZOTs copy is also usually lacking in information. It doesn’t tell you how many apps you get in one of the mystery offers. More importantly, it doesn’t even tell you when you can expect to find out what you’ve bought into. And, more often than not, the software isn’t something you want or hope for. Ultimately, I want less flash and better deals. How they make that happen is their job.

MZ has suckered me for enough cash. It's complete crap. Instead of all these retarded ShoeZots and MyzteryZots, how about some quality products?
Thanks for the MacUpdate Promo plug. This blog has some talented writers in it. I still remember the "decimal time" quote when you first covered mupromo. -j
