From its humble beginnings as a homegrown app by Dan Schimpf to its current title of Official Mariner Product, MacJournal has continually matured, adding new features and updates. This week, Mariner released MacJournal 4.1.2 (free upgrade for registered MacJournal 4 users; $14.95 to $34.95 USD otherwise).
For those few times that I’ve kept an electronic journal over the years (not necessarily a blog), I’ve always come back to MacJournal, ever since I first read about it in Macworld way back in 2002. Perhaps it’s the icon or maybe it’s the “Taco” feature: click the “Taco” icon in MacJournal’s toolbar and you’re rewarded with a random quote from The Simpsons. Either way, this update is worth looking into, since it offers a Palm Conduit for Missing Sync. Other tweaks include improved dotMac syncing, iWeb support, improved Typepad posting, and better handling of multi-page PDFs.
Now that I’ve got that out of the way, let’s start the weekend right with some words of wisdom from Homer Simpson, courtesy of MacJournal’s “Taco” icon: “Trying is the first step towards failure.” Wow—I said the same thing when first embarking on my thesis two years ago.

Yes, MacJournal rocks. I’ve been waiting for them to implement iWeb input support and it appeared with this release. I picked up a copy for me, and one for a friend. Besides the iWeb support, I like the full screen mode. Takes away all distractions, other than, you know… iTunes playing. I’m currently working on my own review, with a POV from my needs.
