The days of hauling your map, travel itineraries, and film canisters on your back while traveling are coming to an end. Knapsack, by TinyPlanet, bills itself as a “personal travel organizer” for Mac OS X Leopard, and includes tools to help you plan, organize and catalog your travel experience.
Remember how back in the day, people would put pins in a giant world map to show where they’ve been? Knapsack brings this activity into the digital realm, letting you place digital pins on a world map to help you organize your past, present, and future journeys. Clicking on a pin lets you view postcards from that location, and clicking on the postcard brings the location up on Google Maps.
Knapsack can also maintain travel itineraries, copy and paste activities and checklists, and simplify planning for your trip.
The software costs $39.95, far from a give-away, but hey—if you have the money to be a Mac-toting world traveler in the first place, then the price probably isn’t an issue.

MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
Or, for people like me, we've already sunk all our money into our Macs and plane tickets... $39.95 is too steep a price. It's a shame - it seems like this software would be quite useful.
