iGet is a file transfer utility for moving files from Mac-to-Mac over the internet or local LANs using a secure tunnel. Aside from downloading from and uploading to remote Macs, iGet comes packed with a number of other great features including remote Spotlight searching, transfer resuming, remote Trash-ing, Automator actions, queueing, and tons more.
One of the best features of iGet, which is actually at its core, is that it runs over ordinary SSH tunnels. As it is inherently secure from prying eyes, SSH is commonly used by system administrators to log into other machines’ command-lines and issue commands remotely. Like Mac OS X itself, iGet builds on top of that solid UNIX foundation, eliminates the need to type commands, and brings a point-click-and-download interface to your workflow. No additional software is required on the “server” end — the computer you’re connecting to. Simply turn on Remote Login in the System Preferences pane, and you’re ready to start sharing files between computers. iGet fetches $49.95 for its long list of useful features, however it’s a great investment for those who often transfer files between Macs.
