I like to see innovation. I also like to see my laptop where I left it when I come back from the bathroom. Randy Green’s managed to combine these two great tastes into, um, one taste that tastes…great.
iAlertU (alpha version forthcoming) utilizes the Sudden Motion Sensor in the MacBookPro to detect someone trying to run the old snatch-and-grab on your precious laptop. Unless the alarm is disarmed, the MacBook emits a high-pitched screech that will hopefully summon a pack of angry dogs to tear the would-be thief limb from limb. Or it might just make them think twice. Either way. You can check out the demo video here. Forthcoming features may include support for PowerBooks and iBooks that use the SMS system, as well as possibly taking a picture of the thief using the MBP’s built-in iSight.
