Having your Newton talk to OS X doesn’t require calculus

ncx.jpgWe may have poked our fair share of fun at the Newton, but Apple’s venture into the PDA market continues to have its ardent followers even today—just like Charles Manson! Except, you know, with shorter hair and less murderous intent.

If you’re holding onto your Newton until its pried from your cold, dead hands, you’re probably already aware of Newton Connection for Mac OS X, which incorporates a bunch of basic utilities for Newton as well as letting you easily transfer information to and from it. The latest version, 1.2, also adds a new screenshot function (man, I still can’t do that on my iPhone without hacking it).

The program’s author, Simon Bell, gives away the software but kindly asks that if you use it you donate a little money. And if you want to keep using your Newton, it’s probably in your best interests to keep Simon happy and well-fed, right?

I still wish I had the money to buy the Newton 2100 when it was still available.

I've still got my original Newton Message Pad, but it's a bit limited in comparison.

I gave my MP130 away a few years ago. But I did find an older article I wrote on using your Newton with Palm Desktop. I look for it now and then... see where it's currently at. Memories. Check it out here:
