It’s been a while since I’ve used HandBrake. I generally back up my DVDs to other DVDs rather than convert them straight to a video file, so HandBrake didn’t fit my needs. More recently, I’ve started to rethink that strategy. I still have my EyeHome and while it’s no Apple TV, having instant access to a large host of movies is great.
The other reason I started to avoid HandBrake was the interface. It was functional, but it seemed like no thought was put into it. HandBrake 0.9 really changes that. It’s starting to feel like an OS X app, and even has the options organized. The update also promises better looking output, faster output, and a bunch of bug fixes. Remember boys and girls, this is for personal backup purposes only. I’m looking at you Netflix members.
