Google takes it to .Mac

It seems like Google is slowly getting ready to topple .Mac. With Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Talk, the search engine giant is almost there. But now they’ve made the fatal blow — Google Browser Sync. Browser Sync is a plugin for Firefox which synchornizes a user’s browser settings such as bookmarks, history, cookies, and saved passwords, accross multiple computers. Of course, Browser Sync does have its limitations. For one thing, it only works with Firefox, so it won’t work with other popular Mac browsers like Safari or Camino. Also, Browser Sync can only sync the preferences that Firefox has, so your Keychain and Apple Address Book won’t move between computers. Of course, Browser Sync does have many advantages over .Mac, such as integration with PCs, and the fact that it’s free. Now if only Apple could buy Google, then one can only dream of the possibilities.

Google has many Apple-like designs for it's apps. Google would be a great addition to teh Apple software team, but Google has too much money coming from PC's.
