Firefox 3 RC1 means that Firefox 3 is imminent

Firefox Many a Mac user chooses Firefox as their browser of choice. For some, it’s the add-ons. For some, it’s the more consistent website support. For some it’s performance. The latest incarnation of Firefox, version 3, has reached the RC, or Release Candidate, stage. That means that unless a showstopping bug is found, the codebase could be the release version of Firefox 3.

While it may not be right for everyday use, particularly on a work machine where things need to work as expected, it’s a great time to download to see the new features such as better password management, a simplified add-on system, one-click site info, tagging, auto complete, smart bookmark folder, new graphics and font handling , and improved performance.

I personally stick to Safari and Camino on my Macs so I haven’t even taken a look at Firefox 3. What’s the verdict among our resident Firefox aficionados?

I enjoyed Safari 3, but Firefox 3 is faster and cleaner. I am pretty sure that anyone who tries it will agree that it is currently the fastest browser on the market.

I also think this build of Firefox really kills the need for Camino. It's light years faster, just as stable, and just as "mac-like," while doing everything Camino can do and more.

I prefer the look and feel of Firefox. The menus, websites, etc. are in the right places.

Firefox is my browser of choice. Renders sites better than Safari and works the same on PC and Mac.
Faster, cleaner and just plain better than the rest!

Firefox 3 is awesome, but the inability to utilize the Services menu is keeping me on Safari most of the time.

And...let me also jump in on the Firefox 3 bandwagon as well. I've used both Safari 3 and Firefox 3 extensively but I prefer Firefox 3. As others above have pointed out, it is faster, offer far more features (extensions) and renders web pages better than Safari.

Also I cannot find a significant reason to use Camino over Firefox 3. Camino was better than Firefox 2 but not anymore. Firefox 3 does everything Camino does but much more and better. There is no question that Firefox 3 is the fastest browsers on ANY platform.

I also find it more stable and intuitive than both Safari 3 and Camino.
