One of my biggest pet peeves about Safari is that there’s no keyboard shortcut that will let me cycle through my open tabs in Safari. Many other tabbed browsers allow this, but for some reason Safari will not. Thus when I came across TabExposé today I became rather enamored.
This plug-in for Safari will allow you to do to your tabs what Apple’s Exposé does to your windows in OS X. There’s a demo video on the TabExposé site which you can view to see how the plug-in exactly works. Then for $6.90 you can own this piece of shareware and make your browsing experience much more efficient.
Command-Shift-Left/Right Arrow will cycle through the tabs in Safari.
However, it will not work when focus is in a textarea or the address bar because the same command is used for text selection. The surest way to get in the right mode is to use the mouse to click anywhere neutral on the page and then use the key combination. Unless a page has JavaScript which focuses on a text field (like many banks do) then you can use the shortcut as soon as the page finishes loading. I think I'm making it sound more complex than it is. I use this all the time without thinking about it.
Incidentally, Command-Left/Right Arrow will move forward or backward through the history of the current tab. And, Command-Up/Down Arrow will jump to the top or bottom of the current page.
To move through tabs in Safari you can hold Command+Shift and then press the left/right arrow keys (or use the bracket keys [ ] )to cycle through. The arrow keys won't work when your cursor is in a text box, but the bracket [ ] keys will.
Command-Shift-Arrow Key cycles through the tabs for me.
You can cycle through your tabs one at a time using shit++(left/right arrows).
"there's no keyboard shortcut that will let me cycle through my open tabs in Safari"
shift+apple+arrow (left or right)
Or,
Using the Mighty Mouse, you can put the pointer over the tabs and use the scroll wheel left or right to cycle through the tabs.
Just thought that you should know that you are correct there is not a keyboard shortcut for cycling through tabs in safari. Instead there are two shortcuts. You can use:
- command-shift and the right and left arrow keys and
- right and left bracket keys
I would expect a MacUser blogger to know this (or at least check before publishing a post). Nonetheless, I love the blog, keep up the good work!Sage

Try Command-Shift-Right Arrow (or left arrow) to move between tabs.
You are correct that there is not a shortcut to cycle through your tabs in safari. Actually there are two key combinations to cycle in each direction.

Try OpenApple+Shift+Bracket...
It's a pain, but you can scroll through tabs in Safari with CMD+Shift+Arrow.
Of course there's a keyboard shortcut to cycle through tabs in Safari. It's Shift-Command-right arrow/left arrow.
From Safari's Help menu:
To quickly switch between tabs, press Command-Shift-[ and Command-Shift-].
Isn't that a cheaper and simpler (though mildly less elegant) approach to what you're wanting to do?
what do you mean "no keyboard shortcut that will let me cycle through my open tabs in Safari."? Cmd+Shift+ arrow key or Cmd+Shift+{ / }
No one could see all the other comments saying this, so I've published them all. However, let's stop now. :)
(I shouldn't say, but I knew this too. ;) )
You can use... haha no, I won't say it, but why not just install the indispensible SafariStand and set it to place "," and "." as cycle left and right respectively. I couldn't live without it.
If you use Safari Stand there is an option in the preferences that allows you to use the "," & "." to cycle left and right through open tabs. Quite nice.
in the swedish localization of safari you jump between tabs using Cmd+Ö or Cmd+Ä
It's kind of strange that the keycombos isn't the same in all localizations
