Our buddies over at Magnetk have revved one of our favorite products, ExpanDrive, to version 1.3. They tell us it’s—and I quote—”the awesomest ExpanDrive ever.” I’ve only just had a chance to download it, so while I cannot personally vouch for its superlative status, I can say that it sounds pretty, well, awesome.
If you’re not familiar with ExpanDrive, here’s the elevator pitch: imagine you can connect to your remote FTP servers as if they were local drives. Bam! Version 1.3’s main addition is the ability to connect to vanilla FTP servers; previous versions were limited to chocolate secure FTP connections. Of course, they’ve added the host of usual improvements as well, including better reconnection support for SFTP servers and the ability for ExpanDrive to detect when your network state changes or when your computer goes to sleep or wakes up.
ExpanDrive runs $29, but you can grab a free trial copy that’s good for 30 days. Plus, magnanimous fellows that they are, the Magnetk team has decided to wipe the trial for previous users, so if you’ve already used up a 30 day trial at some point in the past, you can give 1.3 a shot with a totally clean slate—a policy they plan on continuing with every major release. Now, isn’t that sweet?
