Having used DEVONthink off and on for the past few months, I’ve found it fairly helpful in corralling the disparate mess that is my To-Do List. That’s why my interest was piqued when Ars Technica’s Jon Stokes recently sat down with DEVONtechnolgies’ president, Eric Boehnisch-Volkmann, to find out what users might expect from DEVONthink in future versions. Some intriguing highlights include better support in workgroup situations, support for more file formats, and an interface overhaul.
Although DEVONthink 2.0 has no release date yet, according to Boehnisch-Volkmann, it should boast other useful tools for information management:
But, DEVONthink 2.0 will store all documents also in their original format inside the database package and use the AI structure only as an index. This makes it possible to search the database also with Spotlight and easier integrate third-party file formats.
