With the iPhone launch finally behind us, Apple has presumably put its teams to work on Leopard full time. That doesn’t mean, however, that they aren’t looking for a little more feedback on the current state of the software. As a result, they’ve launched a thorough survey on the Apple Developer Connection website, asking for input from those using the most recent build, 9A499.
The survey covers a number of areas from Mail & Web to Desktop & Interface (no questions on the Dock or the translucent menubar, though), and asks respondents to compare their experience to that of Tiger, plus add any relevant bug report numbers and comments. To any of those hoping to stuff the ballot box, the survey does require an email address, which it will confirm against the seed list, so you’re out of luck.
Sources I’ve talked to have been both positive and negative about the latest builds, with some implying that 499 is pretty solid, and others saying that there’s still lots of work to be done. Most agree, however, that going back to Tiger after using Leopard is, if not disappointing, at least kind of lackluster. While some have opined that the survey may suggest another delay, I’m hopeful that it means only that Leopard engineers are trying to tie up all the loose ends before October.
