Adobe Creative Suite 3 Much to the relief of Intel using Mac users, Adobe has announced the latest in their software offerings with Creative Suite 3. However, it’s not just one Creative Suite. There’s a total of six total flavors (I suppose to compete with the number of Photoshop flavors).

Creative Suite 3 comes in six configurations, covering the spectrum of creative professionals. The configurations are Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium and Design Standard editions; Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium and Web Standard editions; and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium. Rounding out the product line is Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection which combines 12 of Adobe’s new design and development applications in a single box.

Ok, but how much does that cost and when can we have it?

Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium and Standard and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium and Standard will begin shipping in April 2007. Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection will begin shipping worldwide in the third quarter of 2007.

Creative Suite 3 Design Premium will cost $1799, Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium will be $1599, Creative Suite 3 Production Premium is $1699 and the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection will cost $2499. There are also numerous upgrade paths available for Adobe customers.

Am I the only one totally confused? Can someone make a table or something to summarize included applications, prices, and release dates? Well, Adobe has some of this in a table under the compare editions section. I thought Microsoft was bad with this kind of stuff.

The good news is they’re all Universal Binaries, meaning that Mac Pro you bought will now blaze with newfound speed. Upgraded applications include Photoshop, Photoshop Extended, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash Professional, and Dreamweaver. You might notice the disappearance of GoLive and the lack of Lightroom (err, Photoshop Lightroom). Stay tuned to Macworld and MacUser for more updates and information throughout the day.

Excellent! The upgrade from CS2 Premium gives me Flash for $259 less than buying it by itself. Normally I wouldn't upgrade, but that's a great deal.

Ahhh yes... I love the idea of spending more money on Adobe CS3 then I paid for my 20" iNtel iMac and 3 year warranty just to get acceptable speeds.

God, what a rip-off the prices are.

Adobe really is becoming the Microsoft of Mac Applications...

Thank the Mac Gods for companies like Freeverse and their LineForm Illustrator replacement... Now if I can find a good PS replacement, I can dump Adobe as well as MS...
