Adobes announces CS3 release date

The BoxQuick, what are you doing on March 27th? If your answer is anything other than “Heading to New York City for the Adobe Creative Suite 3 release,” then I’m afraid I’ll have to revoke your geek credentials. Please turn in your multitool and pocket protector at the door.

Macworld UK reports that Adobe is calling the event the “largest software release in Adobe’s 25-year history.” They’ve also launched an online campaign, What Is In The Box? (the answer to which hopefully does not involve any part of Justin Timberlake) and a teaser video. The March 27th event will be webcast live, in case making it to NYC isn’t feasible for you (okay, you can have the multitool back, but I’m keeping the pocket protectors).

Of course, some will say this event lends credence to the rumor that Leopard will be released in late March, since reports have been flying this week that CS3 is being timed to be released with Leopard. Personally, I don’t think it’s likely. Look for Leopard to be a while yet.

Update: Why must you toy with us, Adobe? March 27th is merely the announcement date. CS3 will ship “later in Spring 2007.”

The question really is, what's inside the box - or Balok's radioactive warning bouy. Are we going to see Flash 9? Dreamweaver? Illustrator? What?

heh, I agree, this is unprecedented, in my experience... a company having to announce when an actual launch date will be. Interest has been massive, though, which is what drove this pre-announcement.

On March 27 the company will publicly finalize details on delivery dates, the different suite configurations available, individual feature sets, more. Source info here:
