Adium 1.3 is better, faster, stronger, but not harder

An update to a much-loved application is like receiving a little unexpected gift on a normal day. In the case of the just-released Adium 1.3, it’s more like a big gift.

Version 1.3 of the multi-protocol chat client, “seven months in the making”, introduces an all-new Contact Inspector, adds contact search, better MSN support, and Facebook chat support for the first time. Oh, and there are like a zillion bug fixes.

The new Contact Inspector replaces the previous Get Info window and sports a leaner and more efficient design, plus you can now make a contact visible at all time. As for contact search, it’s very slick: just start typing in the contact list (it has to be the frontmost window, obviously) or press Command-F and a Safari-style box pops up, filtering your contacts on-the-fly.

If that’s your thing, a full changelog is available. As always, Adium is 100% open-source and downloadable from adiumx.com for $0.

Looking at the change log, MSNP15 didn't make it to the final release. So no support for receiving offline messages. waiting for the next release, probably 1.3.x will have MSNP15 as libpurple 2.5 already does.
