When dealing with today’s volumes of MP3s, digital pictures, scads of folders and more, you’ll often find that many files would benefit from being renamed all at once. Sure, you can fire up the Terminal and create a complex command to do what you want, but there’s a “better” way to go about it: A Better Finder Rename.
ABFR can be easily invoked upon a Finder selection, allowing you to rename files without major interruption into your workflow. There are literally dozens of options to choose from when renaming. Every action you’ll need is covered, from the basics such as simple find-and-replace all the way up to the advanced, such as renumbering sequences of files. The most useful feature, however, is the live preview list, which displays the future results of your current actions. Using the tools provided and the live preview, you can adjust the renaming process to produce exactly what you’re looking for. At $19.95, A Better Finder Rename will undoubtedly fill all your file changing needs. (Full disclosure: I’ve been a paid owner of ABFR for some time now, and have recently done beta testing for new versions.)

MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
You could always activate the apple script thingy in the top menu bar and get the finder to rename stuff for free. Its not as elegant but is already on yer mac.
