1Passwd to get an impressive iPhone feature

We’ve talked about 1Passwd a few times already, so you’re probably familiar with the Internet password safe-keeper. Version 2.5 of the program is in beta (download it here at your own risk) but Agile Web Solutions revealed one of the new version’s best features: the ability to access your 1Passwd keychain from your iPhone or iPod touch.

Here’s how it’s done: clicking “Sync to iPhone” in the toolbar exports an encrypted bookmarklet to Safari, which will then be synced to your iPhone or iPod touch. From there, you can choose the bookmarklet from your Bookmarks; you’ll be prompted for the access code (which you choose during the creation process). Finally, an iPhone-style app gives you access to all of your web forms, secure notes, and more.

Since this bookmarklet actually contains the entire web page, there’s no sensitive information stored on a remote server, and you can use it offline. Best of all, this requires zero hacking. Check out the blog post for a full explanation and many screenshots.

The new version is expected to drop soon. Until then, you can check out the current version at the website.

Nice. It has some rough edges on the iPhone version, but it's really coming along. It's fast. It has your information. Definitely worth it if you have lot of passwords to keep track of and need them on the go.

Passwordwallet already offers this functionality but charges an additional $10 for the a
feature.

Thanks for the post! I'm glad you like the new iPhone feature :)

We've had great feedback on the iPhone application so far, but we have several ideas on how to make it even better. Please share your thoughts for improvement so we can make sure we're headed in the right direction.

Cheers!

This is what I am talking about. Someone who instead of GRIPING and complaining about the lack of non-web apps wrote a smart and VERY useful program for the iPhone that requires no hacking.

Good job!

Aaron
