softwareupdate.pngAnd here I thought Mondays were so slow. But Apple’s rolled out its latest album of greatest hits security update, number 2007-009, which could very well be the last security update of 2007. I know you’ll be sad to see it go, but I’m sure 2008-001 will be here to console you before you even know it.

So what wonders are contained in this latest update to cross our desks? I’m glad you asked. 2007-009 brings a spate of improvements to Leopard favorites like Core Foundation, CUPS, Flash, Launch Services, perl, python, Quick Look, ruby, Safari, Samba, Shockwave, and Spin Tracer. But wait—there’s more: If you’re still on Tiger, act now, and you’ll also get patches to Address Book, ColorSync, Desktop Services, gnutar, iChat, SMB, Spotlight, tcpdump, and much much more, absolutely free!

As always, you can grab Security Update 2007-009 from Software Update, or download the file from Apple’s Support website. There’s a Leopard version, as well as both Intel and PowerPC flavors for Tiger. I can only hope that you are as psyched about this as I am, dear readers. Go ye forth, update, and be fruitful in this holiday season!

Maybe this will fix the Safari problem of not opening at all since update 10.4.11. I don't even have anything attached to Safari. Safari 3.0 has been a pain for me. Thought I was back in Microsoft land!

Safari still won't open. Had other problems with this update also.
